Seven Deadly Sins
The group of seven deadly sins (pride, anger, gluttony, sloth, envy, greed and lust) are both a hindrance and catalyst to meme transformation. Add fear to the mix and realize that these eight emotions are quite ego-centric, meaning the focus is on "you" as an individual. So on a personal level these emotions slow meme evolution but fortunately they rarely occur without the interaction of others (except maybe sloth and fear). Interestingly, it’s the interaction of people (egos) and these emotions which lead to societal struggles (famine, war, violence), which results in irreconcilable perspectives that promote meme evolution.
The prime directive is not to avoid the seven deadly sins just for sake of avoidance. These emotions need to be understood for their relationship to transcendence.
Blue Meme- Rules for living as set forth in the Bible (ten commandments), Qur'an, Torah attempt to minimize these eight human emotions so that individuals can focus on spiritual growth (transcendence).
